Black Shard/ Portfolio
Long-horizon positions, co-built.
Equity for capital, build, and operating contribution. Distinct from direct engagements: Black Shard takes a position alongside the founders and stays. Names and operating numbers held in confidence.
Co-builders, not allocators.
A portfolio venture is a category company we co-build with its operating founders. We bring capital, the build, and operating contribution against named outcomes inside the venture. The venture is its own entity, with its own brand, cap table, and direction. Black Shard is one of its early shareholders, not its parent.
We do not run a fund and we do not originate companies on spec. Each position is a deliberate one, taken once an operating thesis and a founder pair are both in place.
Active positions. Held in confidence.
P-01 · NDAPosition is private.
Sector, brand, and operating numbers are held under NDA with the venture and its founders. Where a venture is ready to be named publicly, it will stand on its own brand and its own URL.
To discuss the position, the engagement shape, or the conditions under which we add another: direct enquiry to info@blackshard.com.au.

Three filters.
- F-01 Category exposure.
A category where the incumbent operating model is structurally exposed: better software, sharper integrations, applied AI where it lands. We have a clean read on what to build first.
- F-02 Founder fit.
A founder pair that owns the operating context. Someone who has run the business this venture is going after, and a counterpart who can build alongside us.
- F-03 18-month named outcome.
A path to a real, named outcome inside 18 months. A revenue line, a cost taken out, or a reference customer with its name on the door.
