Black Shard releases The Edge, a brand film made in-house

Three lines of type carry it along one fractured edge, cut to an original score, and they describe the work we do.

The three lines

Its three lines are “We build software”, “Then we break it” and “before attackers do”. Those are the two halves of the firm: we build and run software for our clients, and our testers attack it the way an adversary would.

Every engagement keeps both halves, and nobody tests a system they built themselves.

How it was made

The Edge holds to a strict visual system, so every frame reads as part of one film and every shot lands on the beat.

  • Forty materials along one fixed fracture line, one material per shot
  • Thirty-nine hard cuts, timed to an original score
  • Twenty seconds at 24 frames a second, mastered in 4K
  • Three short lines of type and the Black Shard lockup

Made in-house

Brand and launch films produced in-house. The Edge was written, designed, rendered and scored on our own film pipeline.

The same pipeline, for clients

The pipeline behind The Edge also produces launch films for the products we build, including the hero film for Aurii, and brand films for clients who want one.

GRM LAW, one of the firms we build for, shared it the day after release.
